All the Richmond hotels I have stayed at have been really great and this was no different. Very nice and spacious room, actually if I compare the rooms to other Hotels like APA etc., it was huge! Staff were very very helpful and answered all our questions and guided us very well. One the 2nd and 9th floor they have microwave and laundry facilities and when late at night you may bring your own food from Kombini and heat up and eat since the restaurants may be closed. The hotel is a short tram ride from Kagoshima Shinkansen station and a sort walk to the boarding point of the ferry to Sakurajima which is the major attraction here. On the last night we had to catch the first shinkansen from Kagoshima Chuo and the staff guided us very well on how to take the tram to reach on time. Very safe area as well although during early morning and late night it is pretty quiet and lonely but its still very well lit up and safe. A nice touch was that we left our luggage at front desk since we came early and at check in time they had moved the luggage by themselves to our room.

We spent a week at this hotel, having stayed there 13 years earlier during our honeymoon. While we didn't luck out with a Sakurajima view this time (they must be really rare given the nearby buildings blocking the view), we had a comfortable room for a great value, in a decent size for the price paid. The beds were comfortable and we had just enough room for our medium-sized luggage. We were delighted that the laundry room had 5 newer machines that worked well and didn't cost too much. Best yet, the included breakfast was really great - each day we had a choice of 5 different set meals: Western, Japanese, Chicken Rice, Beef Curry, and (I think) bonito flake rice something, plus a salad buffet. Overall, the location couldn't be beat, and the staff were kind and welcoming. Hot tip: the check-in machines in the lobby doubled as really useful change machines and had other functions.

(1) The tatami style rooms were amazing, spacious and clean. It had separated toilet and shower area. The shower pressure & hot water was strong & consistent. The furton beds were thick and comfortable. All the furniture & fixtures in the rooms looked new and good. Best of the 3 Kyushu hotels that we stayed during our trip. (2) The room air cond system was strong, working well and quiet. (3) Although hotel guests need to claim some toiletries at the ground floor reception area, the hotel provides a full range of items and in free flow style - not restrictive and no wastage (4) Location - the hotel is right at the beginning of the main cultural & shopping area of Kagoshima city. We walked to all the famous spots and there were plenty of food, shopping available - even till late night (11pm)

My room request was granted, and I had a view of Sakurajima from my window. I thought it was the same room they assigned to me previously and I was satisfied. The room had enough space, and I had a comfortable and restful sleep. There were two kinds of pillows to choose from and I thought it was smart to cover both preferences for hard and soft types. The location was superb for both going to Tenmonkan and my conference venue; both are within 10-minute walk. It is also near ferry ports and the Kagoshima City Aquarium. The hotel is very close to the airport shuttle bus stop (incoming) and the tram stops are just in front. A big department store and a convenient store are also right in front of the hotel. The staff was very helpful and accommodating.

Excellent location, close to restaurants, the station (if you are traveling light, it is possible to either walk or take a tram, or you can take a cab) and a bus stop to the airport. Staff was kind and helpful (I just reviewed a hotel in Iwakuni with zero omotenashi, Richmond Kagoshima is the opposite, we felt really welcome by staff). One often overlooks the importance of greeting guests and interacting with them, but staff at the Richmond Kagoshima always greeted us and it makes a difference. We paid a fair price for the stay and the room was very comfortable.
